Everyone is coming to the cabaret these days, old chum, and I was wondering why. So, I asked local aficionado and practitioner of that particular musical form to lead me through the process of putting together the show. Chuck Lavazzi, KDHX radio personality, actor and entertainer, is planning his solo cabaret to be presented Mar. 26-27, 2010, under the aegis of The Presenters Dolan at the Kranzberg Arts Center. The musical director and accompanist is Neal Richardson.

The irreverent and funny, Tony Award winning musical, Avenue Q returns to the Fabulous Fox for four performances, April 30-May 2. The smash Broadway musical about real life in New York City has proven an unlikely hit and is told by an eclectic cast of characters, both human and puppet alike.
FADED BEAUTY: The Country Girl Shows Her Age

There are no director’s notes in the playbill for The Country Girl. The artistic directors’ page says: “. . . we believe art speaks to everyone in its own context, and therefore we will let the play speak for itself.” In this case, I’d like to know what someone whose vision has guided the piece—here, Jim Anthony—has to say about what he hoped to accomplish and why he chose to direct this particular work.
OUR FUNNY VALENTINE: "Shirley Valentine" @ Stray Dog Theatre

What I’ve always remembered about Shirley Valentine is her clitoris. It’s actually where I learned to pronounce the word, as Shirley carefully explains that it is CLIT-o-ris, not cli-TOR-is, as she and I thought. She ruminates about how the accent being in the middle makes it a prettier word.

Let’s face it—most of us of a certain age have a soft spot for the 1970s television series, Little House on the Prairie while many more grew up reading the classic American books of the same name by Laura Ingalls Wilder.
So it should come as no surprise that continuing in the long tradition of musical theater drawing its inspiration from the four corners of the creative universe, that Little House on the Prairie, The Musical makes its debut at the Fabulous Fox Nov. 24-29.
Michael Kearns Shines in "intimacies"

The audience at the Metropolitan Community Church of Greater St. Louis (MCCGSL) was treated to a rare evening of entertainment as Michael Kearns returned to his hometown to perform his one-man-show, intimacies presented by That Uppity Theatre Company, Joan Lipkin, Artistic Director.
