Congress Conducts Hearing on Transgender Employee Discrimination
Congress is scheduled to conduct a hearing today on the issue of workplace discrimination against transgender employees, according to a recent press release from the Human Rights Campaign.
The HRC, along with a coalition of other GLBT organizations, have lent their support to the hearing, which is being led by Rep. Tammy Baldwin, D-Wis., Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass. and Rob Andrews, D-N.J. and who is also chairman of the Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor and Pensions of the House Education and Labor Committee.
Reps. Baldwin and Frank, the only openly gay members of Congress, have also previously sponsored pro-GLBT bills such as the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Act and the Employee Non-Discrimination Act.
