Coming Out Stories 2008 **THIS WEEKEND**

Coming Out Stories 2008

For National Coming Out Day, That Uppity Theatre Company and the Playback Workshop Theatre present two free performances of "Coming Out Stories 2008: Yours, Mine and Ours" -- where the audience is part of the show. Audience members will be given the opportunity to share their own coming out stories as professional actors enact them through improvisation in a live art technique known as Playback Theater.

National Coming Out Day, Oct. 11, commemorates the 500,000-person National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights that took place in 1987. It is also a day to raise awareness of the GLBT community and celebrate the acceptance and sharing of one's sexual orientation or gender identity.

The shows will take place at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11 and 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12 at the Missouri History Museum (located at Lindell and DeBaliviere in Forest Park) as part of the 2008 St. Louis Political Theatre Festival. For more information, call (314) 995-4600 or visit UppityCo.com.

Many thanks to THAT UPPITY THEATRE COMPANY for putting on this show. My overall impression was that I felt I had stepped back 20 years in time. I thought we had come a lot further with regards to religious dogma, societal pressure, etc. I hope that those grappling with coming out of the closet will not let anyone else 'Dim Your Light'.
