On September 30 from 5-7 p.m. Mayor Francis Slay will be in The Grove at Just John at an informal “wedding reception” for the couples he married earlier this year. This will be an opportunity to show thanks to Mayor Slay for marrying the first same-sex couples in Missouri.

On June 25, 2014 Mayor Slay married four same-sex couples, challenging Missouri to lift the ban. The four couples attending the Just John reception include: Tod Martin & David Gray, Karen “Mimo” Davis & Miranda Duschack, Bruce Yampolsky & Terry Garrett and Richard Eaton & John Durnell.

“St. Louis is a city that doesn’t tolerate discrimination,” Slay says. “We are sending a message on what’s right, and I can’t think of anything more right than this.”

Mayor Slay says he wants St. Louis and Missouri to be a place where same-sex couples feel welcomed and accepted. He encourages all couples to see their future homes here.

Slay says he believes that by accepting all diversity into Missouri/St. Louis, our community will only become stronger. Slay has been praised by AJ Bockelman, Executive Director of PROMO, and will frequently tweet using #ShowMeMarriage in support of the Show Me Marriage Campaign.
