Spring nesting season is here, and not just for the birds. After a long winter spent cozying up beneath flannel sheets and staring up at boring beige walls, urban dwellers emerge to give the nest a feathering of fresh color and style.

This season, the color is green and the style is sustainable. And with so many eco-friendly options available this season, it really is possible to tread lightly on the planet without sacrificing style.

The cool kids are going green, folks. And in this age of hip, spending a lot of money isn’t required: designer jeans and a sports car will get you nowhere, but your thrift-shop skirt and Metro pass are coolness gold.

Avoid the mistake of great idea, wrong fabric

Last year, I encountered a client who called me to "fix" a major error she had made with some fabric that she picked out. It was this great teal embroidered fabric with lots of flowers, branches and birds, reminiscent of the garden of Eden.

Decking The Halls —With Some Restraint

A while back, I visited a local department store, decked-out with all of the typical holiday regalia: ornament swags, trees trimmed in uniform purple and red balls, large, fake packages stacked at the base and a colossal bow suitable only for presenting a new car to a college graduate. Did I mention this was in JULY?
